Wall and floor tiling in Palencia

Tiling is judged on its details: where the first tile lands, how the corners are resolved, and whether the joints hold a line. That is why we start by setting out, not by cutting.

Ceramic, porcelain and large-format tiling with measured setting-out and clean joints.

Large-format porcelain tiles being laid on combed adhesive, with spacers and a rubber mallet

Before a single tile is fixed, we set out the full layout. We choose the starting point so that cuts fall in the least visible areas, whole tiles dominate the main sightlines, and wall and floor joints line through with each other.

We prepare a level, stable substrate and use the right adhesive for each material and format: back-buttering for large-format and porcelain, and specialist adhesives where there is constant moisture or underfloor heating. Wet areas are waterproofed before any tiling starts.

Grout is selected for both colour and performance — cementitious or epoxy depending on use — and junctions are resolved with trims or mitred edges, with flexible sealant at every change of plane. That is where tiling either lasts or starts to fail.

Frequently asked questions

Why does setting-out matter before tiling?
Because it decides where the cuts fall. Before a single tile is fixed we set out the full layout and choose the starting point so cuts land in the least visible areas, whole tiles dominate the field of view, and wall and floor joints line up.
Can you tile over underfloor heating?
Yes. We use adhesives specified for underfloor heating, just as we do where there is constant moisture. The adhesive is chosen for the tile material and format, with back-buttering on large-format and porcelain tiles.
How is a shower waterproofed before tiling?
In wet areas we waterproof the substrate before any tile goes on, shower trays included. Afterwards, every change of plane is sealed with a flexible sealant — that is where tiling starts to fail if it is neglected.
Which grout is better, cement-based or epoxy?
It depends on use. Grout is chosen for colour and for performance: cement-based for most rooms, epoxy where greater chemical or moisture resistance is needed. Edges are finished with trim profiles or mitred, depending on the detail.
